Publications & Awards
Ramola D's short fiction, poetry, essays, and news features have appeared in various
literary journals and newspapers including Prairie Schooner, Blackbird, Green Mountains Review, Agni, Indiana Review,
Indian Express, So to Speak, and Asian Pacific American Journal.
Her fiction is included in the anthology Enhanced Gravity: More Fiction by Washington Area Women (Paycock Press, 2006).
Her story "The Next Corpse Collector" was included in Best American Fantasy 2007, and shortlisted
in the 100 Other Distinguished Stories list in Best American Short Stories 2007.
Her short fiction manuscript Temporary Lives was a finalist for the 2004 University of Nebraska Book Series award,
and received the AWP Grace Paley Award in Short Fiction in 2008.
Her poetry has been thrice nominated for a Pushcart prize, named finalist in
the Discovery/The Nation prize, and included in The Best American Poetry 1994,
as also in the anthologies Winners: A Retrospective of the Washington Prize,
(The Word Works), The Anthology: Highlights from Fifteen Years of a Unique “Mind Stimulating” Literary
Magazine, Literal Latte’s first anthology, 2008 and in the forthcoming
Full Moon on K Street: Poems About Washington, DC (Plan B Press)
Her first collection of poems Invisible Season,
a finalist with the Carnegie Mellon Poetry Series, Calyx, and Wesleyan University Press,
won a Washington Writers' Publishing House prize and was published in 1998.
Ramola's interviews with award-winning and bicultural fiction writers, part of an ongoing project,
have appeared in The Writer's Chronicle. Her dramatic adaptation of Charles Perrault's
children's story "Puss in Boots" with Director Nicholas Allen
is currently being staged at Classika/Synetic Theater until March, 2010. She received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship award in poetry in 2005,
for a project she is currently completing.
